Powcom Services was formed in Central Europe during the telecoms boom of 1999-2000, and since that time has constantly expanded and diversified to meet our customer’s needs. It was formed as part of the outsourcing of a major OEM’s installation department, offering highly skilled local telecoms engineers in Central Europe. In 2003 a management buy-out of these companies and the formation of the holding company, Powcom Services Ltd. (UK), expanded operations to the U.K.
We began as a company with some 60 engineers specialising in telecoms implementation and switch installation and an extremely successful track record of providing key skills and solutions both to OEMs and Operators. Since that time we have installed and tested telecoms equipment for network rollouts in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, UK and USA. Central European services are now based from the Budapest, Hungary headquarters, with a satellite office in Prague, Czech Republic.
Powcom UK entered the UK telecoms market in 2004 providing telecom services to the Defence Industry as a supplier to Rockwell-Collins and the MOD in the UK, Cypress and Falklands. UK telecom services then expanded to motorway telecoms and urban traffic signal installation and maintenance. Powcom has installed telecoms equipment on highways over the length and breadth of the Motorway Network in UK and implemented urban traffic signal schemes throughout the London area. We are a HERS registered organisation and Health & Safety is a top priority in this highly regulated Industry.
Recognising similar skill sets between telecoms and electrical industries, in 2008 Powcom UK acquired J&A Connections, a Kent based electrical engineering firm established in 1986. J&A Connections quickly integrated with the Powcom culture and now provides top quality electrical services to domestic, commercial and non-profit organisations in SE England. We specialise in service to care homes, local councils and property managers.
